Year of construction: 1903
History/owners until 1945: The villa, which is a listed building, was built in 1903 as a guest house for Mrs. Paulina Neander. The beautifully decorated Art Nouveau veranda made of steel came from Stettin. The 1905 Binz guidebook listed it as: Villa Neander, owner Mrs. Neander, 10 rooms, 2 kitchens.
Four years later, in the 1909 Binz guide, Dr. A. Guthmann from Charlottenburg was mentioned as a spa doctor who used an apartment in Villa Neander during the season. Among other things, he owned an inhalatorium.
GDR era: During the GDR era, the villa housed a jewelry store, among other things (until 2007).
After 1990: In the mid-1990s, the Glasner family from Hesse acquired the villa and converted it into a small hotel with a restaurant in 1996/97. In the spring of 2007, the restaurant was expanded to include the former shop area. During this construction project, the restaurant underwent a complete redesign.
Current use: Hotel with its own restaurant and café
Interesting facts/anecdotes: A dendrological feature of note is the “Araucaria” in front of Villa Neander. The Chilean ornamental pine must have been a souvenir from a trip around the world. It has been standing in front of the house since around 1930 and is growing magnificently.
