History/owners until 1945: Villa Marie was mentioned in 1898 in Edwin Müller’s travel guide “Die Insel Rügen” (published by Barthol und Co.). In 1905, the villa had 26 rooms, which the owner Bremer recommended. In the 1911 travel guide “Ostseebad Binz Insel Rügen – das ‘nordische Sorrent’” (Baltic resort Binz on the island of Rügen – the “Nordic Sorrento”), the offer was described as follows: Villa Marie Putbuser-Straße, opposite the most beautiful beech forest, 1 minute from the beach. 26 rooms furnished in a modern style with electric lighting, wonderful verandas, and a beautiful front garden. Rooms from 16 to 32 marks. Discounts in the early and late seasons. Breakfast in the house. Other meals by arrangement. House servant at the bridge and train station. Owner: C. Jul. Bremer. In the mid-1920s, Otto Hoose was the owner, who in an advertisement in “Praktische Winke – Ostseebad Binz auf Rügen” (Practical Tips – Baltic Sea Resort Binz on Rügen) from 1925 particularly emphasized a beautiful rose garden and the renowned good cuisine. In 1933, Villa Marie was still being run as a guesthouse.
GDR era: During the GDR era, the villa was used as a residential building, among other things.
After 1990: After 1990, the building underwent extensive renovation.

Interesting facts/anecdotes: The initials “VM” on the roof of the building stand for the name of the villa.
