History/Owners until 1945: The house was first mentioned in the 1905 Binz guide: Pension Haus Gaebel. Accommodation with pension, also lunch and dinner. The landlady and owner was Mrs. Martha Gaebel, headmistress. She ran an elegant, Christian house. In the 1925 Binz guide “Praktische Winke”, the house was described as follows: Guest house Haus Gaebel, Viktoriastraße. Distinguished, Christian house, recommended by the German Officers’ Association. Opposite Warmbad, 1 minute from the forest and beach. Excellent food. No drinking obligation. Telephone 240. Detailed information from the owner: Frau Schuldirektor Gaebel

A year later, the spa gardens were created opposite Haus Gaebel, with fountains, recreation areas and a bridge over the Aalbek. Later, a fountain house was added. According to the Binz guide “Praktische Winke”, Martha Gaebel also ran the guest house in 1935. After her death (date unknown), Mrs. Falcke, née Gaebel, took over the management of the house on behalf of Martha Gaebel’s heirs. Later, ownership was transferred to Miss Emma Noetzel.

GDR era: After the Second World War, the building was converted into a block of flats.

After 1990: In the mid-1990s, the Löw family from Bad Homburg (also owners of the Villa Imperial and the Baltik on the beach promenade) bought the house and extensively renovated it in 1996. Today it is used as a residential building.

Present use: residential building

Worth knowing/anecdotes: The guesthouse has always been run as a distinguished, Christian house. As a photo from the time proves, there was a saying on the wall of the house as follows: God keep a faithful watch in mercy – In this house day and night.
